ROYAL OAK – State Senate candidate Aaron Bailey and his volunteers have knocked on more than 20,000 doors in Oakland County’s 13th Senate District to talk to voters about his commitment to creating jobs, reforming government in Lansing and promoting renewable energy and independence from oil to protect our Great Lakes.
Bailey announced today that he has also raised $117,831.99, gaining a tremendous amount of support in his first run for office.
“Nobody will fight harder on behalf of public safety than someone who has fought to protect our country in a time of war, and that candidate is Aaron Bailey,” said Mark Docherty, president of the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union. “By raising over 100,000 dollars and knocking on more than 20,000 voters’ doors, it’s clear that Aaron Bailey has the drive and determination to win, and he’ll take that same work ethic and passion to the State Senate to fight for Oakland County families.”
“I’ve served my country in Afghanistan, but now it’s time to wage a different battle at home – a fight for change to turn Michigan around,” Bailey said. “We need to work to reform Lansing and get rid of career politicians who serve special interests instead of middle class families. We need to make Michigan one of the best places to do business in the country, especially for small businesses. And we need to put Michigan’s natural resources and manufacturing expertise to work to create clean energy jobs in growing industries. Talking to the people of Oakland County has given me a clear picture about the issues that are important to them, and I’ll fight hard on their behalf in Lansing.”
Bailey is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and served as an Airborne-Ranger qualified Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army. Bailey served with a Special Operations Task Force in Afghanistan in 2007.
Bailey is also very active in promoting renewable energy to create jobs in Michigan and improve national security. In addition to his military experience, Bailey holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering and a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from the University of Michigan. Prior to launching his Senate campaign, Bailey worked as a business strategist in the Detroit office of McKinsey & Company, which specializes in helping businesses, government organizations and nonprofit groups succeed in the rapidly changing economic environment.
